Eat consistently

If you don’t eat regularly your energy levels will drop, which is likely to make you tired and more irritable. Eating consistently is key when it comes to eating healthy

Eat more protein

Protein contains amino acids that help your brain control your mood, motivation, and concentration.

Fruit & Vegetables

Fruit and vegetables are an essential part of any diet, and the original image of healthy eating – they’re an easy way to get all of the vitamins and minerals your brain needs to stay healthy!

Be sensible with caffeine

Caffeine is great, but everything in moderation definitely applies here. Caffeine can make some people more anxious and irritable so keep an eye on how coffee, teas, and other caffeinated drinks are affecting your mood.

Drink plenty of water

Hydration is key! Make sure you’ve always got easy access to some water – just a little bit of dehydration can start to affect your mood and ability to focus.

These are just a few things you should be doing to maintain better mental health through healthy eating. They won’t miraculously cure any mental health issues you may currently be experiencing but they’ll definitely help with smaller stuff and for a good foundation for overcoming the harder issues!

Incorporating it into a corporate lifestyle/environment

It can be quite hard to incorporate a healthy diet & lifestyle into a busy corporate environment. It’s important that you’re able to maintain at least the basic levels of healthy diet to keep your head stable throughout the work day. In an ideal scenario your office provides all the things required, here's a few examples:

  • A healthy canteen

  • a good staff communal kitchen

  • water fountains/coolers

  • Fruit bowl

Those are just a few things your office could do! However, you can also make a difference yourself it's not all up to decision-makers, here are a few examples:

  • Making your own lunches

  • Bringing a water bottle to work

  • Bring some healthy snacks to work
